The Supplies Department of the National Engineering Research & Development Centre (NERDC) is entrusted with the responsibility of acquiring goods, works, and services essential for the Centre’s research and development activities. Operating under the directives of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the department ensures that all procurement processes are conducted with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
The department plays a vital role in procurement planning by preparing annual procurement plans with the support of all operation and service departments aligned with organizational priorities and identifying as well as scheduling supply requirements to effectively support ongoing and future projects. In the area of tendering and bidding, it is responsible for drafting and publishing tender notices in accordance with NPC guidelines, while ensuring fair competition and equal opportunity for all qualified suppliers.
With regard to contract management, the department undertakes the drafting, reviewing, and administration of contracts with suppliers and service providers, closely monitoring compliance with contractual obligations and managing any necessary variations or extensions. Comprehensive documentation is systematically maintained to facilitate audits and institutional reviews.
In addition, the department actively engages with suppliers by establishing and maintaining strong vendor relationships and facilitating clear communication regarding purchase orders, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
The Supplies Department of the Centre ensures transparent, compliant, and efficient procurement in line with the guidelines of the National Procurement Commission and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, thereby effectively supporting the Centre’s research and operational activities.
