The Department of Energy & Environmental Services (E&ESD) of the National Engineering Research and Development Centre is the national technical support arm for the achievement of Sri Lanka\u2019s goals for industrial, energy, and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n

We have a pivotal role to play in enhancing compliance, improving the efficiency of industries, and ensuring the development of industries through environmentally sound approaches, based on science, technology, and engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>

      The Department also offers consultancy in the design and evaluation of pollution control systems such as dust control systems, fume control systems, odor control systems, and wastewater treatment systems.<\/p>\n\n

      3. Laboratory Testing & Compliance Services<\/h4>\n\n

      E&ESD has well-equipped laboratories to facilitate product compliance and regulatory testing. These include:<\/p>\n

      • Refrigerator Performance Testing<\/li>\n\t
      • Ingress Protection (IP) Testing<\/li>\n\t
      • Environmental testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

        The laboratory operates in accordance with the ISO\/IEC 17025 standard on quality management to ensure technical accuracy and reliability.<\/p>\n\n

        Electric Vehicle (EV) Testing & Advanced Mobility<\/h4>\n\n

        E&ESD is strengthening its position in electric mobility through dedicated EV testing and evaluation services. The facility provides the following services:<\/p>\n

        • Motor and drive system tests<\/li>\n\t
        • Energy consumption and range estimation tests<\/li>\n\t
        • Performance assessment of electric vehicle charging systems<\/li>\n\t

          Test results contribute to national regulatory activities, providing technical support to the Department of Motor Traffic.<\/p>\n\n
